Ben Arp
Founder & Lead Researcher at Researched Picks
I’ve spent the last few years obsessively reading product reviews — not just the 5-star ones, but the 1-star disasters, the 3-star “it’s fine I guess” ones, and the detailed Reddit threads where people argue about whether the Breville Bambino is actually better than the Gaggia Classic.
That obsession became this site.
How We Research
Every review on this site follows the same process:
- Read 200-500+ real owner reviews on Amazon, sorted by most recent and most critical
- Check Reddit threads — r/BuyItForLife, r/headphones, r/Cooking, r/HomeOffice, and dozens of niche subreddits where people don’t hold back
- Cross-reference forum discussions — Head-Fi, AVS Forum, Whirlpool, specialized communities where enthusiasts actually know their stuff
- Look for patterns — When 50 people mention the same problem, that’s not a fluke. When Reddit loves something that Amazon reviewers are mixed on, that tells you something about expectations vs. reality.
- Write honestly — No product is perfect. I tell you what’s great, what’s not, and who should actually buy it.
I don’t accept sponsored products. I don’t get paid to write positive reviews. The only way I make money is if you click through and buy something — so it’s in my interest to recommend products you’ll actually be happy with.
